Monster Spray

My awesome mother-in-law made our 5 year old a bottle of Monster Spray when he started expressing fears at bedtime. But one night as the procrastinating bedtime giggles set in, said 5 year old thought it was hilarious to spray it in my face continuously instead of anywhere else with no end in sight...which made this momma, well, turn into a monster. I absconded the spray and dumped it down the drain. That'll teach him, I thought.

Not my finest moment, I admit.

Also, it didn't change the fact that he was still scared. Facepalm.

Mommy tantrum over, I promised to make him a new batch. After some research and some smell tests of our own, here's the recipe we came up with below. I've also linked where I got the cute image for the bottle.

Everything you need for Monster Spray
Monster Spray

I got the original ratio/recipe from Martha here. She's the best.

Ingredients Needed:

Directions:

  1. Wash/dry out spray bottle

  2. Pour 10 Drops Lemon oil, 10 drops lavender oil, and 10 drops sweet orange into bottle (give or take)

  3. Fill Bottle halfway with distilled water.

  4. Fill the rest of the bottle with Witch Hazel. Witch Hazel helps the oil and water combine so the scent will linger longer.

  5. Shake before each use to combine.

Bottle Label:

I downloaded the image for the cute label from the site, SVG & Me. They have it available as a printable image or a cut file if you have a Silohuette (what I used) or Cricuit machine.

That's it! If you want to play around with different scents, here's a great set featuring Top 14 Oils from Plant Guru.

This also doubles as a great room spray. The possibilities are endless. Have you made your own monster spray or room spray? How do you make yours? I'd love to know your favorite scents to use. Comment below.
