Eggs on YouTube. Why? I have no idea.
YouTube. Parents, you either love it or hate it and sometimes both in the same moment. My kids love watching videos of people opening eggs with stuff inside. It doesn't even matter what's inside, and it doesn't even have to be anywhere near Easter time. I'm not sure why, but for kids, this is a thing. So when we were practically avalanched by Easter candy at the store just walking down the aisle, we grabbed a few eggs and made our own video so the kids had an excuse to open a couple of them up and we all had an excuse to get outside for some fresh air.
So now we are officially a part of the egg craze. lol. Watch in our video below as my sidekicks race to see what they got inside their eggs. You can subscribe if you (or your kiddos) like it. ;)
What did we buy? How much did they cost?
We kept it simple and just bought 2 big eggs and 2 candy Oreo eggs. Had to leave some candy on the shelves for the Easter Bunny, right? They were $1.99 each for the big eggs and .99 each for the smaller ones if memory serves me correctly.
1 Large Spider-Man candy-filled egg
1 Large Trolls Movie candy-filled egg
2 Small Oreo Candy Eggs
What was inside?
All eggs contain different items in various quantities, but the ones we got had the following:
Giant Spider-Man Egg:
Spidey mask lollipops (this was by far the majority of the candy...about 8 lollipops)
Spidey mask candy (4-5 little packages of red and blue Spider-Man masks)
Spider-Man Stickers (my favorite part)
Giant Trolls Movie Egg:
1 Plastic Trolls Keychain
1 sheet of 4 Trolls Stickers
Little Packs of Trolls Face Candy (about 5 packs - green, blue, pink hard candies)
Chewy Lemonheads (about 4; my favorite part)
2 Candy Bracelets with Guy Diamond's face on the candy charm.*
*I misspoke in video and said it was Branch. I was later corrected by my 5 year old. :)
Small Oreo Eggs:
These were chocolate on the outside, with a cookies and cream sort of filling. Too sweet and sugary for my taste. And very messy and melty if you live in a hot climate. Keep wipes on hand so you don't ruin your child's Easter clothes.
Good Choice or Bad Choice:
All in all, I'd say the eggs were a fun way to spend a few bucks and the afternoon. After doing this ourselves, I think the appeal of the eggs aren't necessarily what's inside, but the surprise factor itself. The eggs are sturdy so you can reuse them and rehide them if you want to have a treasure hunt one day or save them for the Easter Bunny to refill with candy or non-candy items year after year.
My Parental Rating: Good Choice
xo,
Kelly
